Sichol '26 improves in second round of NCAA women's golf tourney

First-year went six shots lower than her first round total on Tuesday

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. --  Hamilton College's Peyton Sichol '26 carded a 9-over par 82 in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club's El Campeon Golf Course on Wednesday, May 10.

Sichol is currently in a three-way tie for 79th place out of 151 golfers at 24-over 170. About two dozen players didn't finish their second round due to darkness because there was a two-hour delay for lightning in the area during the afternoon. Despite the delay and players finishing their second round early Thursday morning, Sichol is still scheduled to start her third round on the 10th hole at 1:50 p.m.

Sichol teed off on No. 10 at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and recorded seven pars on the back nine for a 39. She was 1-over for the day after a birdie at the 163-yard, par-3 second hole (her 11th hole of the round), and still was just 2-over par through her first 13 holes. Sichol proceeded to make double bogey on Nos. 5 and 6 and then bogeyed the last three holes for a 43 on the front nine.

Sichol's opening round 88 was her highest this season. She came into the championship averaging 77.78 for 18 holes. Sichol is the 27th-ranked individual in Division III.
