Women's golf is fourth after first day at NESCAC championships

Event wraps up with 18 more holes on Sunday, April 30 at Taconic Golf Club

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Hamilton College is in fourth place out of four teams after the first 18 holes of the 2023 NESCAC Women's Golf Championship at Taconic Golf Club on Saturday, April 29.
 
The Continentals, who received votes in the most recent Women's Golf Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, recorded a four-woman team score of 339. No. 13 Amherst College is in the lead at 306, No. 12 Williams College is in second at 311 and Middlebury College is third at 317.
 
Hamilton, Williams, Middlebury and Amherst advanced to the championship by finishing in the top four at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier in October 2022 at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown, Mass. Williams earned the right to host this event by taking first place in the qualifier. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championship.
 
Peyton Sichol '26 and Maddie Hong '23 led the Continentals with rounds of 83. Sofia Weinstein '24 was a stroke back with an 84, and Alaina McKeen '24 registered an 89.
 
Tee times on Sunday, April 30 begin at 9 a.m. Taconic GC has a par of 71 and is playing to 5,819 yards this weekend.
