ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The University of Rochester won three singles matches in straight sets and four overall in the Yellowjackets' 6-3 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Rochester's Lyman Tennis Center on Sunday, April 16.
Hamilton (2-11 overall) didn't have
Connor Griff '25 in the lineup one day after he won at first flight singles and competed at first flight doubles at Wesleyan University. The Continentals return to conference competition on Saturday, April 22 at nationally ranked No. 5 Williams College (11-3, 6-2 NESCAC).
Anson Anderson '26 was a winner in singles and doubles play for Hamilton. Anderson, who is second on the team with nine singles victories, rallied after dropping his first set at first flight singles. He completed his comeback with a 10-7 decision in the third set super-tiebreaker.
Anderson and
Gianni Esposito '24 improved their record to 5-2 as a doubles team. They outlasted their opponents at first flight doubles by a 7-4 score in the tiebreaker. Anderson leads the team with 15 doubles wins this season.
Brian Wang '24 won his second singles match this season and the third of his career with the Continentals. Wang finally put down a rally attempt by Kei Ogawa at fifth flight singles by taking the third set super-tiebreaker, 10-7.
