Women's golf tied for fourth place at NESCAC championship qualifier

Hong '23 led the Continentals with a 79 in the first round at Cold Spring Country Club

The Hamilton College Continentals are tied for fourth place out of eight teams after the first round of the NESCAC Women's Golf Championship Qualifier at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown, Mass., on Saturday.
 
Nationally ranked No. 24 Hamilton is tied with Bowdoin College with a four-person team score of 324. Williams College leads the way at 307, Amherst College is runner-up at 312 and Middlebury College is third at 316.
 
The top four teams and four individuals not from those teams will play in the 2023 NESCAC Women's Golf Championship in April. The second round at Cold Spring CC starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.
 
Maddie Hong '23 led the Continentals and is tied for ninth place out of 40 golfers with a 79. Peyton Sichol '26 is tied for 13th after an 81, and Sofia Weinstein '24 and Alaina McKeen '24 are tied for 20th at 82.
