Continentals drop an 8-1 NESCAC decision against Wesleyan

The Wesleyan University Cardinals defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 8-1 in a NESCAC men's tennis dual match played at Hamilton's Tietje Family Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

Wesleyan (3-2, 2-2 NESCAC) was sixth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III team rankings posted last March. The Cardinals recorded a 9-0 victory against the Continentals in Connecticut on April 18.

Hamilton (0-4, 0-4) picked up a team point thanks to Eric Stein '23 and his come-from-behind victory at fourth flight singles. Stein lost 3-6 in the first set but rebounded to win 6-2 in the second. He finished it off with a 10-4 decision in the third set super-tiebreaker. Stein improved his career singles record to 8-6.

The Continentals honored seniors Josh Caplan '21, Tim Derby '21, Rob Dotterer '21, Eamon Gibbons '21, Matt May '21, Jafar Sharipov '21 and Max Zimmerman '21.
