Matt Brisotti has been named head coach of the Hamilton College men's and women's tennis teams. He had held the same position at Drew University since the spring of 2014.
Brisotti's Drew tennis teams won 63 dual matches. He was selected the 2016-17 Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year after he guided the squad to a record of 14-2, including 7-0 in the conference, and the semifinals of the Landmark championship. He coached the Landmark rookie of the year as well as three singles players and two doubles teams on the all-conference team. Brisotti had one singles player and one doubles team on the 2015-16 all-conference team, and he led the Rangers to a 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III championship finals appearance.
The Drew men's team enjoyed a great deal of success in 2016-17 under Brisotti as well. The Rangers posted a 16-4 record and earned a spot in the Landmark semifinals with a 5-2 conference record. He coached the conference's player of the year and a co-rookie of the year, as well as three singles players and a pair of doubles teams to all-Landmark honors. In 2015-16 he had the Landmark rookie of the year and two singles players on the all-conference team.
"I am honored and humbled to take over the Hamilton tennis programs and lead them in a positive and exciting direction," Brisotti said. "I would like to thank Athletic Director Jon Hind as well as Associate Athletic Director Miriam Merrill and the search committee for helping me through this process. I would also like to acknowledge all the work Jamie King did as the interim head coach during the fall.
"Hamilton is a world-class institution that provides the best opportunities for its student-athletes. I'm looking forward to helping them maximize their potential as a student and as an athlete."
Brisotti finished his collegiate career as one of the top players in Drew men's tennis history. He is fourth on the program's list with 55 career singles victories and he holds the team record for most career doubles wins with 64. He made the Landmark all-conference first team in singles twice and was on the second team for doubles three times. He was a captain and the team's most valuable player his senior year. Brisotti helped the Rangers achieve a great deal of team success as they assembled an overall record of 50-25 and boasted a perfect 28-0 mark in conference play. The men were conference champions all four years with Brisotti, and they made three NCAA Division III championship appearances. Drew advanced to the second round of NCAAs in 2010 and 2012.
"We are excited to welcome coach Brisotti to our Hamilton community," Director of Athletics Jon Hind '80 said. "His love of tennis and his passion for developing student-athletes in a highly selective Division III intercollegiate environment were evident during the selection process. We are looking forward to having Matt lead our tennis programs."
Prior to leading the programs at Drew, Brisotti was the head women's tennis coach at College of Saint Elizabeth in 2013-14. He was recently an instructor at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness and The Strand Tennis Center in New Jersey.
Brisotti was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Drew where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in public health. He is from Mattituck, N.Y., and graduated from Mattituck High School.
