The Continentals host an invitational each fall on their home course, which has layouts that measure 5,000 or 6,000 meters for women’s races and 8,000 meters for men’s competition. The course recently underwent extensive renovations in conjunction with the construction of Hamilton’s new baseball and softball facilities as well as a soccer practice field.
The previous iteration of the cross country course was one of Hamilton’s busiest venues in terms of hosting postseason and championship competition. The Continentals hosted the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Cross Country Championships eight times. In 2015 the men’s team won its first team championship since the 1975 team claimed the title as host institution behind Bruce Carter ’76, who successfully defended his individual crown. Two other Continentals have won state titles on their home course – Peter Kosgei ’11 recorded his second straight first-place finish in 2009 and Adam Pfander ’16 was the 2013 winner. The women’s team, runner-up at the 2015 event, recorded its best showing ever behind Michelle Fish ’17, who became the program’s third individual state champion.
