Women's cross country places 11th at NCAA regional meet

Hamilton College finished in 11th place out of 41 schools at the 2017 NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Women's Cross Country Championship at Houghton College's Field of Dreams in Houghton, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon.

Hanna Jerome '18 and Grace Heller '19 led the Continentals with impressive performances in the 285-runner field. Jerome captured 12th place with a personal-record time of 22:24.6 on the 6-kilometer course, and Heller was close behind in 15th place and a time of 22:36.2.

Brigit Humphreys '21 was next for Hamilton in 75th place and a time of 23:47.4. Caitlin Anthony '18 landed in 102nd place with a time of 24:17.7, and Andy Uribe '19 rounded out the Continentals' top five in 104th place and a time of 24:20.5. Katie Cronin '21 ended up in 146th place with a time of 25:00.1 and Haley Driscoll '21 was 161st in 25:14.8.

The Continentals registered 308 team points and was just seven points outside the top 10. Nationally ranked No. 3 SUNY Geneseo claimed the team title with just 41 points, No. 24 Ithaca College was runner-up with 102 points, No. 30 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute took third place with 121 points, No. 27 St. Lawrence University was fourth with 153 and No. 21 The College of New Jersey was fifth with 183.
