Women's cross country places third in short course invitational

Hamilton College placed two athletes in the top five as the Continentals finished third out of 11 teams in the 2017 Hamilton Short Course Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning.

Hanna Jerome '18 took fourth place out of 137 finishers with a time of 15:03.5 on the 4,000-meter course in her first cross country race since 2015. Grace Heller '19 was right behind Jerome in fifth place with a time of 15:07.2 in her first race for the Continentals.

Brigit Humphreys '21 landed in 11th place with a time of 15:35.3 in her collegiate debut, Caitlin Anthony '18 was 28th in 16:00.2 and Haley Driscoll '21 rounded out Hamilton's top five in 31st place with a time of 16:05.3.

The University of Rochester captured the team title with 43 points and Utica College edged the Continentals by a point for second place, 70-71. Ithaca College's Sierra Grazia was the individual winner with a time of 14:46.

Hamilton is off until the Williams Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, Mass., on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
