Hamilton tops the field in four events at Bronco Invitational

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in the top five in 11 events, including four event victories, at the 2018 SUNY Delhi Bronco Classic Outdoor Track and Field Invitational in Delhi, N.Y., on Saturday.

Cat Berry '19 paced both fields in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash, posting times of 25.08 seconds and 59.41 seconds, respectively. Marie Steiner '20 finished third in the 400 meters (1:01.44) and fourth in the 200 meters (26.25 seconds), and Caitlin McHugh '20 placed 14th in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 28.57 seconds.

Courtney Brunet '20 earned the top spot in the 3,000-meter steeplechase when she finished in 12:27.71, and Katie Cronin '21 finished fifth with a time of 12:55.46. Leigh Gelotte '19 tied for fourth place in the high jump when she cleared 1.40 meters and placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.88).

Emily Steates '19 placed second in the long jump with a career-best bound of 5.03 meters, and she led off Hamilton's winning 4x100-meter relay that posted a time of 49.64 seconds. Joining her on the relay was Berry, Steiner and Diamond Jackson '21.

In the 1,500-meter run, Elizabeth Perry '18 placed fifth with the fastest time (5:02.75) of her Hamilton career, and Caitlin Anthony '18 finished seventh with a time of 5:14.01. Emma Liles '21 and Jane Nealey '21 both placed eighth in their events. Liles finished the 100-meter hurdles in 17.97 seconds, and Nealey recorded a distance of 31.26 meters in the discus throw.

The Continentals host the Hamilton College Midweek Meet on Tuesday, April 17. Events are scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
