Women's track & field takes sixth at NYSCTC Championships

The Hamilton College women's track & field team competed at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday at St. John Fisher College's Polisseni Track & Field Complex in Pittsford.

The Continentals tied for sixth place of 12 entrants in the team standings, sparked by an individual NYSCTC title and three runner-up finishes. Hamilton scored 47 points in the two-day meet.

Cat Berry '19 brought home the title in the 100-meter dash, posting a winning time of 12.42 seconds. She ran the meet's fastest qualifying time as well (12.37). Berry took second in the 200-meter dash in 25.60 seconds after recording the second-best qualifying time (25.43).

Hanna Jerome '18 was the runner-up in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 2:18.75. Jerome also ran on the Continentals' silver-medal 3,200-meter relay. The quartet of Mary Lundin '19, Jerome, Michaela Guinee '18 and Michelle Fish '17 finished in 9:30.18.

Lundin joined Jerome in scoring points in the 800; she placed fifth in 2:20.09.

In the hammer throw, Emily Hull '18 was eighth with a mark of 44.59 meters. Emily Steates '19 took eighth in the triple jump (10.47 meters) and Anaidys Uribe '19 placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:04.02).

The Continentals were fifth in the 1,600-meter relay, with Lundin, Berry, Guinee and Jerome clocking in at 4:07.45. Hamilton also earned points in the 400-meter relay; Wilhelgyne Rose '19, Berry, Vishwa Rasania '17 and Kyandreia Jones '19 posted a time of 51.17 seconds, good for seventh place.

The Continentals are back in action Wednesday and Thursday, May 17 and 18, competing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Outdoor Championships at Westfield State.
