Hamilton College women's tennis players Sophia Aulicino '21, Audrey Chor '21 and Ajla Karabegovic '21 all advanced to singles bracket finals at the 2017 Mary Hosking Invitational hosted by William Smith College on September 9 and 10.
Aulicino cruised through the first two rounds by scores of 8-2 and 8-0 against RIT's Shayna Ginster and St. Lawrence's Katherine Apt, respectively. Chor defeated Amelia Ying of RIT in the first round 8-3 and sneaked past Ithaca's Brianna Ruback 9-7 in the quarterfinal. Aulicino and Chor each defeated their semifinal opponent 8-5 to face each other in the "A" flight singles final. The teammates chose not to play the match and were declared co-champions.
Karabegovic controlled the "B" singles flight before facing Rochester's Abbey Reinhart in the finals. She defeated RIT's Claire Casalnova 8-3 in the first round and St. Lawrence's Caroline Reilly 8-6 in the quarterfinal. Karabegovic took down Alex Wolkoff of Rochester 8-4 but Reinhart defeated her 8-1 in the final.
The Continentals advanced two sets of doubles teams in the "A" flight. Chor and Ndanu Mutisya '21 were defeated by Rochester's Garcia and Gudipudi 8-1 in the first semifinal after getting by their first two opponents 9-8 and 8-3. Aulicino and Karabegovic advanced to the championship by keeping their opponents scoreless through the first two rounds. The pair defeated Reinhart and Wolkoff of Rochester in the semifinal before falling to Garcia and Gudipudi 8-2 in the final.
Hamilton heads to St. Lawrence on September 16 and 17 for the Canton Classic.
