Continentals shut out by Bates in women's soccer

The Hamilton College women's soccer team was shut out by Bates College 1-0 in NESCAC play Saturday at Hamilton's Withiam Field. The visiting Bobcats scored midway through the first half to improve their overall record to 2-0 while the Continentals continue to battle for their first victory of the 2017 campaign.

Hamilton dominated the game but Bobcats goalkeeper Sarah McCarthy earned the shutout with 11 stops. The Continentals outshot Bates 17-7 and took five corner kicks compared to the Bobcats' one. Katja Dunlap '18 led the offense with four shots on goal while Cat Gambino '21 added three attempts.

Olivia Amdur connected with her third goal of the season for Bates. Emily Dumont '18 made two stops in net for the Continentals.

Hamilton will host SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday, Sept. 13 in a 4 p.m. non-conference game at Love Field.
