Hamilton College's Morgan Fletcher '17 (Wayland, Mass./Wayland HS) and Darby Philbrick '18 (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School) played on the same team in a tournament held during the 2017 Women's Lacrosse World Cup at the University of Surrey in Guildford, England, in July.

Fletcher and Philbrick were invited to play for the Division III Elite North team in an open-division festival held concurrently with the Women's World Cup. The DIII Elite North squad -- coached by Trinity College's Katy Dissinger -- was one of three premier teams the U.S. sent to the event. The other two teams were Division I Elite and Division III Elite South. DIII Elite North was comprised of Division III student-athletes primarily from colleges and universities located in the Northeast, including other NESCAC programs.

"It was very cool to learn to play with some of our fiercest competitors while also becoming great friends with them," Philbrick said. "Ultimately, we took third place and were rewarded with medals to remember the event. Not only was it a blast to participate in our own tournament, but it was incredibly fun to watch our own national team play and win gold medals. Both Morgan and I are so grateful we had the opportunity to participate in the festival and play together one last time."

Fletcher is the only three-time all-American in Hamilton women's lacrosse program history. Philbrick was on the all-region first team in 2017 and owns a pair of all-region honors in three years with the Continentals.
