The Continentals were ranked in the top 20 every Monday this year except for March 13 and they reached a high of No. 8 on May 1. Nine of Hamilton's 18 games were against teams who were ranked in the final coaches poll.

The Continentals finished the year with an overall record of 12-6, including 8-2 in the NESCAC. The eight conference wins and No. 2 seed in the 2017 NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship were the best results for the program in their six years in the conference. Hamilton advanced to the semifinals of the conference championship and hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA championship. The Continentals posted win streaks of five and six games between mid-March and late April. Hamilton recorded six victories against ranked teams this year.
