Women's golf places 7th at St. Lawrence Invitational

Hamilton College finished in seventh place out of 12 teams at the 2017 St. Lawrence University Women's Golf Invitational on Sunday.

Winda Wanikpun '20 enjoyed the most success out of the five Hamilton golfers on the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course. Wanikpun tied for 14th place out of 62 finishers with a 36-hole total of 157. She fired a 7-over 78 on Saturday and added a final round 79. Three of her four rounds this fall have been in the 70s.

Gabrielle Wierda '21 was next in 29th place at 171 after rounds of 84 and 87. Sophia Archos '21 and Celia Lau '21 ended up at 175 for the tournament. Archos shot 85 in the first round and 90 in the second, while Lau carded rounds of 89 and 86. Annie McClanahan '20 boasted an 89 in Sunday's final round.

The Continentals posted a four-person team score of 336 on Saturday and slipped slightly to 341 on Sunday for a tournament total of 677. New York University captured the team title at 589, Middlebury was the runner-up at 615 and Amherst rounded out the top three at 624.

Hamilton competes in the 2017 William Smith College Invitational at Clifton Springs Country Club on Sept. 16 and 17.
