Hamilton places 9th at Mount Holyoke Invitational

The Hamilton College women's golf team finished in ninth place out of 14 teams at the 2016 Mount Holyoke College Invitational, which was held at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass., on Saturday and Sunday.

Hamilton's Libbie Warner '19 just missed in her bid for a fourth consecutive top 10 finish. Warner tied for 13th place out of 82 golfers with a 36-hole score of 158. Her 78 in the final round was the best for the Continentals all weekend. She posted an 80 in the first round and has yet to shoot worse than 81 in any of her eight rounds this fall.

Katie Veasey '17 tied for 24th place at 161 for Hamilton. Veasey's 79 on Saturday was the best round of the day for the Continentals, and she added an 82 in the second round. Winda Wanikpun '20 recorded rounds of 83 and 87 and finished in 44th place at 170.

Hamilton posted a four-person team total of 338 on Saturday and slipped slightly to 345 on Sunday for a tournament score of 683. Williams (601) captured the team title and Amherst (621) edged New York University (623) for second place.

Up next for the Continentals is the Williams College Women's Golf Fall Classic at Taconic Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1 and 2.
