Softball heads to Middlebury for NESCAC West series

The Hamilton College softball team travels to Middlebury College for a three-game series in NESCAC West Division action. The teams play a doubleheader on Friday, April 13 at 1 p.m. and a single game on Saturday at noon.

Hamilton (9-13 overall, 1-2 NESCAC West) has split two doubleheaders in a row, first to Trinity College on April 7 and then Utica College on April 10. The Continentals opened conference play with a 4-2 win over then-No. 14 Williams College before the Ephs won the next two games to take the series.

Caitlin Berreitter '20 (.417/.500/.625) guides the NESCAC with 10 doubles. Berreitter's on-base percentage ranks her third and she is fourth with nine stolen bases. Emily Fraser '20 hits .370 and is tied for fifth in the conference with 19 runs batted in. Liz Brautigam '19 and Helen Lin '19 are both batting .313 as they combine for 14 doubles.

Middlebury (9-7, 0-3) rebounded with a doubleheader sweep against Castleton State on Wednesday by scores of 10-2 (5 innings) and 8-1, after losing a three-game conference series to No. 17 Amherst College last weekend.

Emily Moore (.425/.500/.825) guides the Panthers with 14 RBIs and 10 extra base hits. Olivia Bravo bats .340 with 12 walks and four stolen bases, and Melanie Mandell hits .288 with three home runs and 13 RBIs. Allison Quigley leads the pitching staff with a 2.52 earned run average and Emily Morris averages almost seven strikeouts per game through 51 innings pitched.
