Men's cross country runners-up in own short course invitational

Hamilton College placed three athletes in the top 10 as the Continentals finished second out of 12 teams in the 2017 Hamilton Short Course Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning.

Bryce Murdick '20 took fifth place out of 170 finishers with a time of 15:29.1 on the 5,000-meter course for the Continentals. Peter DeWeirdt '18 landed in eighth place in 15:44 and Lucas Wright '21 was close behind in 10th place with a time of 15:47.1 in his first collegiate race.

Andrew Sinclair '18 ended up 14th in 15:53.5 and Erich Wohl '18 rounded out Hamilton's top five in 22nd place with a time of 16:04.7.

SUNY Oneonta -- ranked seventh in the Atlantic Region in the preseason regional team rankings -- captured the team title with 47 points. The Continentals, who are ranked fifth in the region, were next with 59 points. SUNY Delhi rounded out the top three with 67 points. Delhi's Kobie Lane was the individual winner with a time of 15:18.1.

Hamilton is off until the Williams Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, Mass., on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
