Saucier ’18 wins twice at SUNY Delhi Invitational

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in the top five in 10 events at the 2018 SUNY Delhi Broncos Classic Outdoor Track and Field Invitational in Delhi, N.Y., on Saturday.

Eli Saucier '18 paced the Continentals, winning both the 100- and 200-meter dash. Saucier crossed the finish line in 10.69 seconds to improve his own school record in the 100 meters, and his time in the 200 meters (21.95) is just .39 seconds shy of another one of his school records. Sam Robinson '20 closely followed Saucier's footsteps in both events as he posted personal-best times of 11.31 seconds in the 100 meters (fourth place) and 22.66 seconds in the 200 meters (third place).

Colin Horgan '19 recorded a pair of top-five finishes with career-best times, placing third in the 1,500-meter run (4:08.40) and fifth in the 800-meter run (2:00.73). Matt Reading '20 finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.49. Jake Colangelo '20 placed 15th (2:04.10) in the field of 46 runners in the 800 meters and Cal Reynolds '20 finished 18th (2:04.92).

Ty Kunzman '20 placed third in the javelin throw with a distance of 47.19 meters and finished fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 40.71 meters, both personal-best marks. In the hammer throw, Kunzman's distance of 40.79 meters was good enough for sixth place. Patrick Malin '18 placed 10th in the shot put (12.22m) and finished 13th with a throw of 38.38 meters in the hammer.

Will Richardson '21 finished the 400-meter hurdles in 57.27 seconds, a time that earned him fourth place. Richardson was also the third leg of Hamilton's fourth place 4x400-meter relay (3:34.79). Colangelo, Justin Dillane '18 and John Dennis '20 were also part of the relay.

Chris Skeldon '20 finished ninth (16:21.61) and Peter Ross '20 finished 10th (16:23.23) in the 5,000-meter run, and Preston DeLaurentis '18 placed seventh with a leap of 12.53 meters in the triple jump.

The Continentals host the Hamilton College Midweek Meet on Tuesday, April 17. Events are scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
