Men's swimming & diving opens NESCAC championship meet

Hamilton College's Jesse Bennett '19 and Ben Kaplan '21 led the Continentals on the first day of the 2018 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at Bowdoin College's Greason Pool on Friday.

Bennett finished second in the preconsolation final (18th overall) of the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 26.86 seconds, and Kaplan ended up sixth in the same race (22nd overall) in 27.44 seconds.

Ben Cooper '18, Tripp Miller '18, Evan Tatro '20 and Case Tatro '18 posted a time of 3:28.26 in the 400 medley relay. The time was 1.71 seconds off the school record set in 2001.

Philip Marks '21 landed in 14th place in the 1-meter springboard diving event with 207.85 points.

Hamilton finished the night with 105 points and is in 11th place in the team standings. The second day of the championships kicks off with the preliminary heats at 10 a.m. and the finals begin at 5:50 p.m.
