Men’s soccer plays No. 8 Amherst to scoreless tie

The Hamilton College men's soccer team fought to a 0-0 tie with the nationally ranked No. 8 Amherst College Mammoths on Saturday afternoon at Love Field.

The Continentals' (4-4-2, 2-4-1 NESCAC) two best chances to score an overtime game-winning goal came in the beginning of the second overtime. One minute into the final period, Jefri Schmidt '20 delivered a pass to Sebastien Deguines '19 on the right side of the 18-yard box. Deguines' quick shot went just wide of the near post. Two minutes later Quinn O'Malley '18 delivered a throw-in right to the Mammoths penalty kick line and Eli Morris '18 headed the ball just outside the left post.

The Mammoths had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks and outshot Hamilton 22-14.

Linds Cadwell '20 made six saves for the shutout while Amherst's Kofi Hope-Gund stopped five.

Hamilton hosts Utica College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. on Love Field.
