Men's golf places 2nd in season-ending Oswego tournament

Hamilton College's Joe Tigani '18 earned medalist honors and the Continentals finished in second place out of 10 teams at SUNY Oswego's 11th Laker Spring Tournament, which was held at Oswego Country Club on April 29 and 30.

The tournament wrapped up Hamilton's 2016-17 season. The Continentals were in third place after they recorded a four-person team score of 322 on Saturday. Hamilton's score of 307 on Sunday was the best by any team all weekend and left them with a total of 629 strokes. The Continentals finished one shot behind team champion St. John Fisher College and one stroke ahead of the hosts.

Tigani finished six shots in front of runner-up Jeff Palmerino from St. John Fisher with a 1-over total of 143 for 36 holes. Tigani carded a 73 in the first round and came back with a 1-under 70 for Sunday's final round. He has five top 10 finishes in 2016-17, and this was the fourth time in the last two seasons he has been a tournament medalist. Tigani came into the weekend with a 75.57 stroke average for 18 holes and all but one of his 14 rounds this season have been in the 70s or better.

Hamilton's Bobby Osborn '20 fired a 76 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 10th place out of 49 golfers at 161. Matt Cesare '20 added a season-best 78 in the second and final round and tied for 12th place at 162. Osborn posted nine rounds in the 70s out of 12 total rounds this season.
