Hamilton remains at No. 15 in field hockey coaches poll

Hamilton College is still ranked 15th in the first National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Top 20 poll of the regular season that was released on Sept. 12. The Continentals were at No. 15 in the preseason poll as well.

Sept. 12 NFHCA D3 poll

Hamilton and its first-year coach Melissa Mariano are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the NESCAC after a 7-2 rout of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a 3-2 overtime thriller against Bates at home last week.

Michaela Giuttari '20 leads the Continentals with seven points on three goals and one assist. Sarah Pierpont '21 posted five points in the Bates win, including the game-winning goal in the extra period. Tatiana Bradley '19 has been credited with two assists. Julia Booth '19 (1.86 GAA, .750 save pct.) has played every minute in goal so far.

Hamilton has a challenging week ahead of it as the Continentals take on three ranked opponents on the road. Hamilton travels to No. 9 Skidmore College on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. for the first meeting between the programs since 2010 when the Continentals were still in the Liberty League for field hockey. Hamilton goes to Hartford, Conn., for a NESCAC game with No. 12 Trinity on Saturday, Sept. 16, and is at No. 5 Middlebury for more conference action on Sunday, Sept. 17.
