Mary Buzeta has been named an assistant coach for the Hamilton College men's and women's swimming and diving programs. She had been coaching with the Dynamo Swim Club in Atlanta, Ga., since 2015.

Buzeta coached with SwimAtlanta in Hamilton Mill and Roswell for six years prior to joining Dynamo Swim Club. She was a volunteer assistant coach at Emory University during the 2016-17 season and from 2009 to 2011. She is a USA certified coach and has a Level 2 American Swimming Coaches Association certification.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to assist (head coach) John (Geissinger) and I am looking forward to working with the outstanding student-athletes at Hamilton," Buzeta said. "I know John will drive the future of Continental swimming and diving to a level of excellence and I am excited to be a part of it!"

After swimming at Hamilton for one season, Buzeta went on to enjoy a successful collegiate career at Emory from 2006 until 2009. She was a three-time all-American as part of an 800-yard freestyle relay and captured a national title with that relay at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. She earned three all-America honorable mention awards for the 200 free at the national meet. Buzeta helped lead Emory to three top four finishes in the team standings at the NCAA championships, including second place in 2009. She was on three winning relays in the University Athletic Association (UAA) championships and earned all-UAA honors in six events including the 200 free and the 200 butterfly. Emory won three UAA team titles during Buzeta's career. She was a team captain her senior year.

"I am pleased to welcome Mary Buzeta to the Hamilton College swimming and diving family," Geissinger said. "Mary's many years of coaching, from the club level to the collegiate level, have produced top-level Junior/Senior national qualifiers, Division III all-Americans, and national champions. I am confident Mary's experience, work ethic, and passion for the sport will play a vital role in achieving our collective goals as a team."

Buzeta received her bachelor's degree from Emory in psychology. She grew up in New Hartford, N.Y., but attended Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania where she was captain of the varsity swim team in 2004-05.
