Track & field teams host Tuesday meet

The Hamilton College track & field teams hosted their annual Midweek Invitational Tuesday at Pritchard Track. No team scores were kept at the event.

Eli Saucier '18 paced Hamilton's eight men's top-two performances, winning the 200-meter dash in 21.78 (just 0.22 seconds off the school record he set three days earlier).

Three other Continentals recorded individual wins. Bryce Murdick '20 won the 1,500-meter run in 4:14.17, Ty Kunzman '20 was first in the javelin throw with a mark of 44.31 meters and Preston DeLaurentis '18 cleared 13.51 meters to win the triple jump.

Kunzman posted a runner-up showing in the discus throw (39.44 meters). Matthew McCarron '17 was second in the 400-meter dash (51.31 seconds) and Ryan Sedwick '19 finished second in the 100-meter dash in 11.26 seconds.

McCarron ran the first leg of Hamilton's first-place 1,600-meter relay. The quartet, which also included Christopher Albino '20, Justin Dillane '18 and Jake Bolster '19, won in 3:37.81.

On the women's side, six victories came from Hamilton athletes.

Hanna Jerome '18 finished the 800-meter run in a first-place time of 2:20.07 and Michelle Fish '17 won the 1,500-meter in 4:51.65. Leigh Gelotte '19 captured the 400-meter hurdles (70.49 seconds) and Anaidys Uribe '19 was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:56.52).

Hamilton's other individual win came in the field events, with Emily Hull '18 victorious in the hammer throw after a mark of 44.35 meters.

The Continentals' winning 400-meter relay featured Wilhelgyne Rose '19, Vishwa Rasania '17, Caitlin McHugh '20 and Emily Steates '19 and finished in 51.15 seconds.

Michaela Guinee '18 was second to Jerome in the 800 (2:25.02) and Cat Berry '19 was second in the 400-meter dash (58.82 seconds). Steates was second in the triple jump (9.75 meters).

The track & field teams are back in action Saturday, competing at the SUNY Cortland Classic in their final regular-season meet.
